Hobbiton 2-Continuing our Walk

One of the things that was odd to see was the dichotomy of a lush, green Hobbiton and the reality of the drier and browned sheep pastures surrounding the village. The moment we could see beyond the border I realized just how much of an artificial set we were in.

Another oddity for us was an oft repeated question: “Where are you from?” directed to the whole group. As was often the case, we were the only visitors from the U.S. Most were from Australia, The British Isles, and the Pacific Rim. A few were from South America. New Zealand is just too far for a casual visit from the U.S..

Also, bear in mind that we are still on the North Island, just 12 days into the tour. So much more still to come.
